FAQ - New SMS channel in edrone

The new SMS channel at edrone is a powerful tool that allows you to reach your shop's customers more effectively. With shorter, more direct messages and high deliverability, SMS is the perfect complement to email communication.

Below you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about SMS campaigns in edrone.

1. What is an SMS channel in edrone and how does it work?

The SMS channel in edrone is another form of communication with customers, alongside traditional emails. It works in a similar way to email campaigns, but SMS messages have a shorter form and a much higher deliverability. It is an effective way to reach customers quickly with important information, offers and reminders.

2. Why is it worth using SMS campaigns at edrone?

✅️ Reach more customers - SMS allows you to communicate with customers who are less likely to open emails.

✅️ Faster engagement - SMS messages are opened within minutes of receipt, making it an ideal channel for effective and immediate communication. Due to their high deliverability and short form, SMS increases the effectiveness of marketing and sales activities.

✅️ Link to email - SMS can act as a booster for an email newsletter, increasing the reach of a campaign.

✅️ Marketing effectiveness - with SMS, no customer will be left out of promotions, news or reminders about abandoned shopping carts.

✅️ 100 free SMS per month - each edrone account has 100 free SMS each month to use, which stays with you permanently. You only purchase an additional pool of SMS if you need more messages. This allows you to test them in, for example, an abandoned shopping cart scenario, before you decide to purchase a package.

3. How can I activate the SMS module in my edrone?

The SMS module is immediately available in your edrone panel. All you need to do is:

  1. Enable SMS messages in automations Ready Flows (SMS functionality in Custom Flows will be available soon) and in newsletters.

  2. Define the message content and the sender (sender) - you do not have to write the SMS yourself! edrone, with the help of AI, will automatically generate ready-made messages tailored to your campaign. You can accept them or adapt them according to your needs.

  3. Set the segmentation and sending schedule.

After these steps, the system will start sending SMS messages to your customers.

4. How much do text messages cost in edrone? Are there any packages to choose from?

SMS is available in the form of subscription packages that renew monthly.

🔹 How does the SMS subscription work?

  • You can cancel your subscription at any time, at no extra charge.

  • Once you purchase a package, SMS is valid for 2 months.

  • Every month, the system renews the package by adding a new pool of messages.

  • You don't have to worry about running out of messages - the system automatically adds SMS to your account. For example: if you use 100 free SMS each month and purchase a package of 500 additional messages, the system will first consume the free pool and then start using the purchased messages. If you do not use up all the SMS from the bundle in a given month, they will remain valid for the following month.

Important! SMS packages work on a subscription model - every month the system automatically renews your subscription and adds a new pool of messages. To stop billing, you must manually unsubscribe in your account settings.

In practice, it looks like this:

Month 1: You send 400 SMS. The system uses 100 free and 300 from the purchased package (200 from the package remain).

Month 2: You send 250 SMS. First 100 free ones are consumed and then 150 of the remaining 200 (50 remain, which if not used will be lost at the end of the validity period).

Month 3: The system automatically renews your subscription and adds a new pool of SMS from the bundle.

Prices range from PLN 0.15 to PLN 0.09 per message, depending on the package selected.

To begin with, we recommend choosing a package based on the number of contacts who have a phone number and SMS authorisation status. You will receive an email notification when your SMS runs out. In the future, we plan to introduce a flexible package that will automatically increase the number of SMS when needed. In addition, each account has 100 free SMS per month, allowing you to test their effectiveness in selected scenarios before purchase.

5. How do I pay for SMS?

If you have an active licence with edrone, payment for the selected SMS package is automatically charged to your card each month.

If you do not use your card to pay, you will receive a link to pay the invoice before the package is renewed.

6. Can I send SMS internationally? What are the price differences?

International SMS sending is currently not supported by default. If you require international campaigns, the possibility and price are determined individually.

7. What is the SMS Booster feature and how does it work?

🔔 SMS Booster is an option that allows you to boost your email campaign by adding SMS to it.

How it works.

  1. When you create an email campaign, edrone will automatically prepare an SMS message based on the content of the email.

  2. The system will tell you which group of customers the additional SMS campaign will be sent to in order to maximise your reach.

  3. With just two clicks, you can launch SMS Booster and fully exploit the potential of your email + SMS campaign!

8. Can I automate the sending of SMSs? What automation scenarios are available?

Yes! All automation scenarios in edrone also support the SMS channel, so you can, for example:

✅ Send text messages after an order has been placed using the ‘After sale’ and 'Newsletter sign-up after purchase'.

✅ Remind customers of abandoned baskets using the 'Recover abandoned carts’ scenario.

✅ Notify customers of promotions and news.

✅ Send personalised birthday messages, e.g. birthday discounts.

9. What information can I track in the SMS reports?

SMS reports in edrone provide key data such as: 📈 Number of SMS sent. 📈 Message deliverability. 📈 Effectiveness of campaigns compared to other communication channels.

With this data, you can better optimise your campaigns.

10. Is SMS in edrone subject to any regulation?

Yes, the sending of SMS must comply with data protection regulations (e.g. RODO). This means that customers must give their consent to receive marketing SMS. edrone allows user consents to be managed directly in the system.

11. Can I personalise SMS messages for my customers?

Yes! You can apply personalisation in a similar way to emails, such as:

✅ Addressing by name (functionality will be available soon).

✅ Sending messages only to specific customer segments.

✅ Adding dynamic content e.g. individual discount codes ( functionality will be available soon).

The new SMS channel at edrone is a great tool for fast, effective and engaging communication with customers. If you have additional questions - please contact our support! 🚀

12. Can a customer reply to an SMS?

At edrone, we do not have the option to reply directly. The solution is to add an email address where the customer can be contacted.

13. Is there a sender reputation in SMS?

SMS marketing also has a sender reputation concept similar to the one we know from email marketing. Reputation determines whether your messages are delivered effectively to recipients or whether they end up in spam folders or are blocked altogether

The main elements of sender reputation in SMS marketing:

  1. Sender number or name.

  2. Complaint and block rate

  3. Presence on blocklists. As with emails, there are blocklists for numbers and SMS senders that have been reported as spammers. Organisations such as Spamhaus maintain such blocklists (blacklists).

  4. Frequency of sending.

  5. Quality of the recipient base.

Marking as spam:

Some phones and apps have a feature that allows users to report messages as spam. If enough users report a number as spam, its reputation may be lowered.

As with email marketing, there are tools to monitor SMS reputation:

You can use services such as Spamhaus to check whether a number or domain is on blocking lists (blacklists). It is a good idea to regularly check the status of the sender on these services.

14. What can I do if my brand name is long and does not fit as an SMS sender name?

The length of the sender name is limited by the provider, i.e. EmailLabs, or SMSAPI.

The solution to this issue is to try and shorten the brand name in the sender, and you can include the full brand name in the first sentence of the SMS.

15. You have to include a link to the website in the SMS, and there is a very limited number of characters dp use. Why is this?

The available number of characters is max. 140. Polish characters and emoji make the message heavier, so to make the text longer, eliminate the Polish characters and emoji. In addition, you can shorten links using tools designed for this purpose, such as the ‘link shortener’.

16. Is it possible to include a link in the SMS newsletter that, when clicked on, redirects to a website?

Yes, we recommend shortening, i.e. using so-called smart links. You can use the tool https://tiny.pl/, or other free link shortening sites.

17. If I do not purchase an additional package, i.e. I only use free credits, and they can segment the recipients with more than 100 free SMS, will the remaining cost be added to the invoice or will the remaining messages not be sent?

The remaining messages will not be sent. There are no additional charges.

18. Is it possible to do a two-step newsletter sign-up, or one that triggers two actions - for an email newsletter sign-up, e.g. a 10% discount, and for an SMS sign-up with a 15% discount?

We do not have the option to send an SMS sign-up confirmation, i.e. with a separate code. However, we can do this by splitting the sign-up into two places, ie:

Prepare a first pop-up that collects emails and gives a 10% discount, and a second pop-up that collects phone numbers (and assigns a phone tag) and gives a 15% discount. The customer then gets two codes.

We send an email to subscribers encouraging them to sign up for the SMS Newsletter. By clicking the appropriately linked button, customers are taken to a page where they are immediately shown a large pop-up collecting emails+phone. The assigned tag triggers a Custom Flows path with the code.

How edrone's new SMS channel increases customer retention and lowers acquisition costs in e-commerce

Have you noticed that your customers buy once and never come back? Or that despite sending newsletters, your customer base remains inactive? The problem of customer retention and rising advertising costs are a daily occurrence in the world of e-commerce. Online shop owners struggle with the fact that it costs up to five times more to acquire a new customer than to retain an existing one, and the lack of effective communication means that customers quickly forget about your brand.

edrone's new SMS channel is the answer to these challenges. With its high deliverability, instant message opening and direct communication, SMS is the perfect complement to traditional marketing activities such as email campaigns.

📉 Low customer retention and high acquisition costs

Imagine you run an online clothing shop. You regularly send out emails with promotions and news, but your open and click-through rates are low. Customers rarely return to the site and the number of returning transactions is falling. The problem is:

✅ Emails often end up in the “Offers” or “Spam” folder.

✅ Customers view emails late or do not open them at all.

✅ Lack of immediate response to promotional messages means that opportunities quickly lose their value.

👉 Statistics show that SMS messages have up to a 98% open rate, with the majority being read within 3 minutes. This is a huge potential that cannot be achieved with email alone.

🚀 New SMS channel in edrone

The new SMS functionality in edrone allows you to reach your customers more effectively and increase the efficiency of your marketing activities. By integrating SMS into your CRM and Marketing Automation system, you can:

✅ Automate SMS messaging - within pre-defined scenarios (Ready Flows, Custom Flows), SMS can be sent automatically after a purchase, on cart abandonment or in response to specific customer actions.

✅ Personalise message content - dynamic content, such as the customer's name, discount code or order details, allows you to build a relationship with the customer.

✅ Use SMS as a booster for emails - the SMS Booster feature allows you to automatically supplement an email campaign with an SMS message, increasing opens and clicks.

✅ Get your campaign up and running quickly - with ready-made templates and AI support, creating message content is quick and easy.

✅ Monitor campaign performance - SMS reports show key data such as CTR, number of opens and deliverability.

💡 Action example:

➡️ Customer abandons the shopping cart in your shop.

➡️ After 30 minutes, the system sends an automatic SMS reminder with a link to complete the purchase.

➡️ The customer opens the message and completes the transaction - simple and effective!

📈 Increase in retention and sales

The implementation of the SMS channel in edrone has real and measurable results:

✅ Increase in customer retention by 25-30% - thanks to immediate response to abandoned shopping carts and promotional reminders.

✅ Higher open rate (98%) - compared to emails (20-30%).
