Product feed check and update statuses

Check if your product feed works, what each stage of the feed check means and what to do when something fails.

Written by Klaudia Lewandowska

In the product feed tab, the “Feed check” shows whether your feed is working. When something goes wrong, it explains the problem and what to do to fix it.

Where to find it

  1. Click the account menu (bottom-left corner) and choose “Your store”.

  2. Open the “Product Feed” tab.

Under “Your feed”, you will find the “Feed check” card and, below it, the “Feed settings” and “Update history” sections.

📌 Tip: if your store uses a one-click integration, you don’t need a product feed – edrone keeps your products up to date through the integration.

The 5 stages of the check

  1. “Feed link” – checks that the link points to the feed file, not to a web page, the Google Merchant Center dashboard or a sharing page.

  2. “File download” – checks that edrone can download the file. This is where you see, for example, a wrong link, file not found (404), access blocked by your store’s security, password protection, request limits, and domain, SSL certificate, timeout or connection problems.

  3. “File format” – checks that the file is a valid and complete XML (not empty, incomplete or damaged).

  4. “Product data” – checks that products have the required data: ID, name, link, image, price, availability, category and stock quantity. You see how many products are affected, examples and the impact. For example: without an image, the product is not shown in newsletters, automations and recommendations; without availability, it is treated as available; without stock quantity, stock-based automations don’t work; with a duplicate ID, only one of the products is imported.

  5. “Match with your store” – checks that the IDs in the feed are the same as the product IDs in your store. At least 80% of recently active products must be found in the feed (“Required match 80%”). If the IDs differ, edrone can suggest a matching rule that you review and apply directly in the panel. The rule only changes how edrone imports products – your file is not changed.

📌 Tip: in new stores, the ID comparison happens as soon as the first purchase, cart or product view data arrives.

Check statuses

At the top of the card, a summary shows the overall result:

  • “All checks passed” – everything is fine.

  • “Passed with remarks” – the feed works, but some points are worth fixing.

  • “Needs fixing” – at least one stage failed.

Each stage also has its own status: passed, passed with remarks, failed, not checked or waiting for data. Click “Show details” to see what was found, with examples.

To run the check again, click “Check now”.

⚠️ Important: the check shows the real import result. A file that was downloaded and read without errors doesn’t mean the import finished – if processing failed later or the feed was paused, the panel shows it.

Update history

In “Update history”, each import has one of these statuses:

  • “Import succeeded” – your products were updated.

  • “Failed” – the import did not finish. Click “Open report” to see the errors.

  • “In progress” – the import is being processed.

Changes in your store reach edrone at the next import, based on the “Frequency” set in “Feed settings” (from “Once per day” up to “Twelve times per day”), or right after you click “Update now”.

What to do when a stage fails

  1. Click “Show details” on the stage with the problem and follow the guidance in “What to do” – for example, correct the link, adjust the export, review your security settings or contact your hosting provider. The instructions are tailored to your store’s platform.

  2. If you need technical help, click “Copy message for your developer or hosting provider” (available for most problems) and send it to whoever manages your store. The message already includes the problem, technical details and next steps.

  3. “edrone IP addresses to allow” are shown only when allowing these IPs can solve the problem.

  4. After fixing it, click “Check again now” and then “Update now” to import the feed.

⚠️ Important: the instructions don’t change anything in your store or hosting automatically. Single connection errors are retried automatically – full instructions appear only if the problem persists.

Feed monitoring

Your feed status is also shown in the “Account health” widget. edrone alerts you when there is no successful import for a long time, when data quality drops or when popular products are missing from the feed.
