In Short
Imagine you are sending an SMS campaign during Black Friday. Sales are going great — and suddenly, messages stop being sent because you have run out of credits. Some of your customers never receive the offer.
Automatic Top-Up prevents this from happening. If you run out of credits during a campaign, the system automatically purchases another message package, allowing the campaign to continue smoothly. You do not need to take any action or remember to check your balance.
The feature works independently for two channels:
SMS
WhatsApp
Each channel is configured separately. You can enable Automatic Top-Up only for SMS and leave it disabled for WhatsApp, or set a different limit for each channel.
Why It Is Worth Using
No interrupted campaigns – messages can reach all recipients, even when your original credit balance runs out.
No manual work – you do not need to purchase additional packages in a hurry or constantly monitor your balance.
Full control over your spending – you set the maximum top-up limit for each billing cycle, so you will never pay more than you planned.
You only pay for what you actually need – the system purchases only the number of packages required at a given moment, rather than buying credits in advance.
Peace of mind and predictable costs – you can see the estimated maximum cost upfront, as well as the full top-up history.
When the Feature Is Available
You can enable Automatic Top-Up when:
you have an active subscription for the selected channel, either SMS or WhatsApp,
you pay by card and have a default payment card saved in your account.
Important: An SMS subscription allows you to enable Automatic Top-Up only for SMS, while a WhatsApp subscription allows you to enable it only for WhatsApp. Each channel is managed independently.
Important: Automatic Top-Up is available only in Poland and other European markets. It is not supported or available in the Brazilian market.
How to Enable Automatic Top-Up
Go to Account → Plan and Payments.
Find the Premium Add-ons section.
Find the relevant channel, either SMS or WhatsApp, and click Manage in the Automatic Top-Up column.
Enable the feature.
Set the limit, as described below.
Save your settings.
That is all. From now on, campaigns sent through this channel will be protected against running out of credits.
How the Limit Works – Your Spending Safeguard
The limit is the maximum number of messages that Automatic Top-Up can purchase during one billing cycle. It acts as a safeguard, ensuring that your spending never exceeds the amount you have set.
Top-ups are purchased in fixed packages:
Channel | Package size |
SMS | 500 messages |
100 messages |
You can set a limit of up to 50,000 messages.
The system always purchases complete packages. If the remaining limit is lower than the size of one full package, another top-up will not be made. This ensures that your limit is never exceeded.
Example for SMS: You set a limit of 1,500 messages for the current billing cycle. The system purchases messages in packages of 500, exactly when they are needed, until the limit is reached. No additional messages and no additional charges beyond that limit.
When a Top-Up Is Triggered
Automatic Top-Up does not purchase messages in advance. It is triggered only when the system attempts to send a message and there are not enough credits available.
At that point:
Messages without sufficient credits are temporarily paused. Nothing is lost.
The system checks how many messages are waiting and purchases the required number of packages, within your configured limit.
Once the payment is completed, the credits are added to your account.
The paused messages return to the queue and are sent.
The top-up is recorded in the history.
The entire process happens automatically in the background, without any action required from you.
Payment – Clear and Simple Rules
The top-up is paid automatically using your default payment card.
The payment is charged immediately after an additional package is purchased.
If the payment fails, for example because the card is declined, the system retries the payment for up to seven days. If the payment cannot be collected during that time, the top-up is cancelled.
To avoid failed top-ups, make sure that a valid and up-to-date card is saved in your account settings.
What Happens to Messages While the Payment Is Pending?
If the payment cannot be collected, the messages remain on hold for up to seven days while the system retries the payment. If the credits are not added within that period, the messages are rejected.
Estimated Maximum Cost
In the settings, you will see the estimated maximum cost of using your full top-up limit. This is the maximum amount you may spend during the current billing cycle and makes it easier to plan your budget in advance.
In practice, you will usually pay less because the system purchases only the number of packages actually required for the messages waiting at that moment.
Taxes may be added to the displayed amount.
Subscription Renewal
The number of automatically purchased messages is reset every time the subscription for the relevant channel renews. At the beginning of a new billing cycle, your top-up limit starts again from zero.
This also prevents duplicate purchases. The system ensures that you do not receive both the credits included in your renewed subscription and an unnecessary additional top-up at the same time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have control over my spending?
Yes, you have full control. You set the limit for each billing cycle, and the system will never exceed it. You can also always see the estimated maximum cost.
Can I disable Automatic Top-Up?
Yes. You can disable it at any time in Account → Plan and Payments → Premium Add-ons, separately for each channel.
I enabled the feature, but no credits are being purchased. Why?
The most common reasons are:
you still have enough credits available,
the configured limit for the current billing cycle has already been reached,
the remaining limit is lower than one complete package,
the subscription for the selected channel is inactive,
there is no valid payment card saved in your account.
Check these points first. In most cases, increasing the limit or updating the payment card will resolve the issue.
Does Automatic Top-Up guarantee that every message will be sent?
Automatic Top-Up removes the issue caused by insufficient credits.
Paused messages return to the sending queue and go through the standard verification process. If a message is rejected for another reason, such as an invalid phone number, a duplicate message or an already completed campaign, it will not be sent.
Where can I check what was topped up and when?
You can find the history of recent top-ups, including their status, in the Automatic Top-Up settings for the selected channel.
Go to Plan and Payments, find the Automatic Top-Up section and click Manage. The panel will display details of all recent top-ups.
What is the price of Automatic Top-Up?
The price is based on the current applicable price list.
Automatic Top-Up packages include:
500 SMS credits,
100 WhatsApp credits.
Will I receive a separate invoice for an Automatic Top-Up?
Yes. An invoice is generated automatically after the payment is collected by Stripe.
The invoice will include the product name, for example:
SMS edrone – Auto Top-up
You can download the invoice from:
Plan and Payments → Payments and Invoices
