In this article, you will learn how to make the DNS configuration needed for good deliverability and to meet the authentication requirements of email providers.
We will split this into two steps: first you configure the record on your edrone platform, and then you add that record on Cloudflare.
Step 1 - Configuring your DNS records in edrone
Go to your edrone dashboard and open SETTINGS > INTEGRATION > SENDING DOMAIN.
If you have not added your domain yet, click Add domain.
Click Configure DNS records, then Go to DNS configuration.
By default, edrone will now show you the recommended NS records to configure your sending subdomain.
Tip: unlike the previous process, you no longer need to add SPF, DKIM, and DMARC entries manually one by one. You only need to add the NS records shown by edrone.
Step 2 - Adding the records on Cloudflare
Log in to your account on Cloudflare and, in the left sidebar, open the DNS menu.
Click Add record.
Select Type as NS, fill in Name and Content with the values shown in your edrone dashboard (Step 1), and disable Proxy if it is enabled.
Repeat this process for each NS record shown by edrone.
Go back to the edrone dashboard and click Verify records to validate the configuration.
Keep in mind that propagation may take up to 48 hours.
All done. Your DNS records are now configured.
What if my DNS provider does not support NS records
Some DNS providers do not allow adding NS records for subdomains. If that happens on Cloudflare, click the I can not configure NS records button inside the edrone DNS configuration dialog. You will switch to an alternative configuration using standard DNS records, such as CNAME and TXT. If your provider starts supporting NS records later on, you can always switch back to the recommended configuration by clicking Use recommended records.
You can find the full walkthrough in the article How to verify your domain if your provider does not support NS records.
