Dedicated Sending Subdomains – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Written by Patrycja Skrzyniarz

We've collected the most common questions about using separate subdomains for transactional and marketing emails.

Can I still send everything from one domain?

Yes, you can. However, using separate subdomains helps protect your sender reputation.

Transactional emails (automated emails) are messages that customers expect to receive. By separating them from marketing emails, large campaigns are less likely to affect the delivery of important automated emails.

My emails are already being delivered. Why should I change anything?

Email providers keep updating their requirements.

This change helps prepare your email setup for future standards and allows us to better manage authentication, sender reputation, and email delivery.

The goal is not only to solve current problems but also to prevent future ones.

Won't using two subdomains split my sender reputation?

No. It doesn't split your reputation—it protects it.

Each type of email has its own sender reputation. If one type has a problem, it won't affect the other.

Will my customers notice any difference?

The only visible change is that automated emails and newsletters may come from different sender addresses.

Everything else happens behind the scenes.

Will my email addresses change?

No.

This change does not immediately modify your email addresses or the appearance of your emails.

The first step is simply adding the required DNS records. The new subdomains are introduced gradually after they have been properly configured and warmed up.

What happens if I don't add the DNS records, or only add some of them?

Nothing will break, and no emails will be lost.

  • All DNS records added: both email streams use their own dedicated subdomains.

  • Only some records added: the configured email stream uses the new subdomain, while the other continues using the current domain.

  • No records added: nothing changes, and everything continues to work as before.

Do I need to do anything?

Yes, but only once.

Simply add the required DNS records (or delegate the subdomain, if we agree on that option).

After that, we will handle all future improvements on our side. No additional work will be required from you.
