Research shows that 69% of users between 18 and 39 years old start their online shopping sessions using a mobile device.
This means that you need to have mobile-optimized pop-ups in order to communicate with your visitors – and turn them into subscribers – more effectively!
Just as your website must adapt to different screen sizes, the same is true for on-site elements such as pop-ups.
So here's a quick guide on how to create Pop-ups for mobile devices!
How to create pop-ups for mobile devices
NOTE:
We have covered in this article all the steps you need to follow in order to create Pop-ups in the edrone system, so we won't go into all the steps in detail here. In this article we will focus specifically on how to make sure they work for mobile devices.
Pop-up type
There are three types of pop-ups for mobile devices:
Welcome pop-up – appears after a given time when a visitor enters the website.
Action pop-up – appears after an action is taken, e.g. adding a product to the cart
Recommend pop-up – displays a Marketing Machine container with automatic product recommendations. Please note that this is only available for clients that have the Marketing Machine.
NOTE
: It is not possible to create an Exit pop-up for mobile devices, since there is no way to track the movement towards the "close tab" button.
If this is your first mobile pop-up, we recommend using the Welcome pop-up.
Set the rule
In the Rules tab you will determine that your pop-up will appear only for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. For example, to create a pop-up that will appear for smartphones and tablets, create a rule with the following settings:
Screen Size = is Phone (≤576px)
Boolean relationship = OR
Screen Size = is Tablet (≥576px & ≤1000px)
NOTE:
This rule can be used together with other rules, such as specific pages, times etc.
Design
Great, now you just need to create a pop-up that will be displayed correctly in smaller screens.
The optimal parameters are maximum 400px height and 300px width.
Here's a great example of a mobile pop-up with a subscription form:
Once you think it's looking good, go to the preview tab and make sure to check it on a mobile device. If everything is in order, click PUBLISH, and you're done!
